If you are looking to buy a new scope one of the first features people notice and wonder about is straight body vs. angled spotting scope.
Which is the best scope?
Neither! People do have strong opinions on this, but the bottom line is you want a scope that works great for you. If you are still hanging on the fence or just don’t know the differences check my angled vs. straight scope post.

Looking for a spotting scope and tripod for a trip to Alaska to hunt moose.
Weight is a concern. Any suggestions?
I have a Alpen that is about 4 years old. I do not have the model number with me, but it was a $200 dealer cost spotting scope. It is very blurry around the edges. I shoot a fair amount of targets out to 300 yds and need something in a better quality product, but not a $1500 one. I have heard good things about the new Alpens, but am considering a Konus or Leupold angle spotting scope in the $400 range. Any ideas?
