Celestron the Company

Celestron was started back in the 50s by a guy named Tom Johnson. Tom got his start in the optics business when he built a telescope for his sons.

That first scope ended up spawning what we know today as one of the top optics companies in the world. Along the way, Tom lost control of the company, but then during a bad time for the company, manged to buy it back. Spotting scopes are but one little branch of the products Celestron offers today.
