What makes a scope waterproof?
What makes a scope waterproof and the types of waterproofing varies from scope to scope, but in general:
- They are designed to keep water out of the optical tube
- They might contain a gas like nitrogen to help eliminate any dampness
- There are various seals added throughout the scope
- Rubber armor may also provide some water resistance but is more commonly used for damage protection from bumps
